Tasty African Restaurant Stratford
Welcome to the vibrant culinary world of Tasty African Restaurant Stratford, tucked away in the heart of London at E15 1ja. As a food reviewer of Pops Cafe, I am excited to introduce you to this establishment, which prides itself on bringing the rich flavors of West African cuisine to the local community. However, my journey through their menu has been a mix of highs and lows.
The ambiance is casual and inviting, making it a convenient spot for locals. Upon entering, you can't help but notice the absence of traditional menu cards; instead, you’ll need to scan a QR code to view their offerings. While this method suits the current pandemic sensibilities, it also leaves diners guessing about pricing—a minor inconvenience that has left some patrons feeling slighted.
- Jollof Rice: The star dish of many West African restaurants, unfortunately, doesn’t shine as brightly here. Customers like David Lewis and Mina have noted an uncharacteristic burnt undertone. While the rice itself may not be burnt, the flavor was undeniably impaired, leading to disappointment for jollof aficionados seeking that perfect, vibrant taste.
- Ewa Goyin: Another staple, the Ewa Goyin, has also failed to impress. Ted King’s review echoed the sentiments of many—this dish fell flat with its plain and uninspiring preparation, lacking the rich flavors that make this Nigerian delicacy a favorite.
- Stick Meat & Suya: The skewer offerings drew criticism as well. F A Z E pointed out the lack of seasoning and garnishes, which are essential to elevate these popular street foods. A dry presentation can jade even the most eager diners.
There are positive notes, however. A customer named Alicerita Eseola described it as a "tasty African restaurant, just as the name implies," and showcased the convenience it offers to locals in Stratford. The quick service and lack of queues add to the practicality of stopping by for a meal after a long day.
Despite the mixed reviews, Tasty African Restaurant Stratford remains a place of potential. Its strategic location and distinct cuisine can appeal to those seeking to explore the flavors of West Africa. For the best experiences here, it may be best to approach the menu with an open mind and fortified expectations. Here’s hoping this spot refines its culinary offerings, as the community would surely benefit from a truly authentic and delightful dining experience. Keep your fingers crossed for a remarkable West African feast in Stratford!

Unfortunately, the Jollof rice had an extreme burnt taste to it. The rice itself wasn't burnt, but it's that taste where the bottom of the pot is burnt and it impairs the taste of the entire pot. Also, they're not too friendly in there and their portion sizes are quite small for their expensive prices. First and last time visiting this shop!

I always walk past this place and it's close to my home. It's so great to have a West African Eatery nearby well these were my thoughts before trying out this place...I only bought the jollof. It was one of the worst tasting jollofs I've ever had. So bland and lacking flavour. The lady serving had no customer service skills. I never looked at the reviews but I can now see this place has a reputation. A bad one.

I bought two potion of Ewa Goyin and I am absolutely disappointed to say the least. I have just read another customer review by name Aisha Aminu posted five months ago complaining about the same Ewa Goyin, the Ewa Goyin is just plain beans with sauce. I have had Ewa Goyin and bread from another Nigerian restaurant by name Angels Bakery and wao absolutely fantastic the quality is miles apart from Tasty own version, their Ewa Goyin it is tasty, freshly cooked, their bread is soft freshly baked too not frozen like Tasty Ewa Goyin. I usually don't like to leave negative reviews as I also run a business and I know it can be challenging especially now as the economy is not at it's best but I will never compromise on quality, better to give less portion or increase the price and quality is spot on am sure people will be happy even if they have to complain it will not be about the food. Anyway Ewa Goyin for me at Tasty is a no no not anymore.

I ordered a stick meat and Suya from them. The stick was cut in half and it had only two saki on both sides. The Suya had no seasoning, no onions, garnish just plain and dry.Very disappointed with quality of food.
